Bringing Windsor Chairs Back to Life: Custom Spindle Replacement in Crofton, MD

This set of classic solid wood Windsor dining chairs came in with multiple missing and broken back spindles across several chairs, leaving them both structurally weakened and visually incomplete. Since replacement parts weren't available for chairs of this age and style, we custom-turned new spindles on the lathe to match the taper, profile, and diameter of the originals. Each new spindle was carefully fitted and glued into the existing mortise holes in the seat and hoop back — no modifications to the chairs required. The result is a fully restored set of beautiful Windsor chairs with all spindles accounted for, needing only a light stain touch-up to blend the new pieces seamlessly with the originals. Quality furniture is worth saving, and a little craftsmanship goes a long way!
